The herb name lemon grass has been very popular for its fragrance and aromatic flavor for cooking and is widely used in tropical places.

For gastro-intestinal problems, stomach ache, diarrhea, vomiting, bowel spasm, flu, fever and even headaches.

It is helpful with colitis, indigestion and gastro-enteritis.

Lemongrass oil revitalizes the body, clears headaches and helps to treat nervous exhaustion and stress.

This herb has been used as an ayurvedic medicine to treat infectious diseases such as sore throat, laryngitis and fever. It is also common to treat colds and rheumatism by rubbing the oil extract on the affected area.

The oil has great benefit with the muscle and skin thru massage. Lemongrass oil is extracted thru distillation of fresh slightly dried leaves.

Boil 4 cups of water, about 10 leaves of this herb to make as tea then add a tablespoon of honey but it is more essential to add sliced ginger. Lemon grass oil can be mixed with other essential oils such as coconut oil as a liniment for neuralgia, back pains, rheumatism, sprains and several other body pains.

Lemon grass is classified as grass that grows very commonly in grassy moist soil and grows as high as 1 meter high with leaves fully extended in length of about more or less than 70 and 1 cm width. This plant has been cultivated and commercially sold that even in big supermarket in cities are available.

This medicinal plant has been popularly known as herbal therapy by folks because of its therapeutic smell and proven with research studies conducted on humans. It has been widely known for its various uses especially in cooking of soap food and this herb can be easily propagated in tropical countries such as in the Philippines. It can be grown by planting the root clumps separately and it can be easily cultivated even anywhere provided it has enough moisture of soil.

Lemon grass has been known to relieve back pain. To prepare, boil cut parts of lemon grass in a liter of water for 10 minutes then add to a bath tub of lukewarm water, and soak on the water for 15-30 minutes, the result will be amazing feeling the next morning. Boiled parts of this herb used as a tea is also effective for hypertension, migraine headaches, menstrual disorder and improves blood circulation.
